There I learned about the need for horses in central Kansas, which I reported back to my father. A few years later my father, William, teamed up with his friend Hines Clark to drive a herd of 1200 mares north to paddocks in the Cherokee Outlet. I was among the half-dozen riders... beautiful times. And I decided to stay in Kansas when my family moved again. Oh, look here. A buffalo... Who will hunt the biggest buffalo?

So, after a few years, I decided to become a building contractor in Oklahoma City. I first staked a claim in Hennessey, but immediately sold my claim and went to Oklahoma City. At the end of all this excitement, a noisy tent city had sprung up, and I was among the leading citizens. I served for two years as Chief of Police. Every day I caught at least one bandit. I do not like wrongdoing.
