Sheriff Fitzburn: Esteban visits me every now and then if one of his gallows bird flees across the border. He might have a job for you.</spoiler>

Capitán Torres: {PLAYER_NAME}, correct? Don't be irritated by John's behaviour. Our plan is not fully legal in the narrow sense but saves my deputies and the sheriffs here a lot of work.
I am looking for one Emilio Vargas. He was a highly decorated general of the mexican army, until he tried to seize the power in the country. The coup did not succeed, but he was able to flee.
Since then, we have lost track of Vargas, but word is spread that his adjutant, a man named Pablo Salvador, is trying to recruit soldiers for a "revolution" in one of the border towns on the American side. He is up to no good. I want you to infiltrate these self-proclaimed revolutionaries and put a stop to their game.</spoiler>

You have probably heard of my little setback in Mexico. The war... I mean the revolution is not over yet! I just need money to recruit new followers.

We have a legend in my country about our ancestors leaving a great gold treasure in the mountains north of today's border while fleeing the Spanish conquistador Cortés. This gold belongs to the mexican people and what better could we use that for than our just cause?
I recently acquired a map that shows us where this treasure is buried. Will you help us retrieving it, {PLAYER_NAME}?</spoiler>

Emilio Vargas: Is that so? Well, {PLAYER_NAME}, you did not do me any wrong. We have a proven method of testing the loyality of a soldier: ride in the ammunition wagon. Oh, by the way... this might be a bumpy ride.</spoiler>

Out of nowhere you hear a shot that hits and kills the chief of the tribe. This results in a fierce battle that leads to significant losses on both sides.</spoiler>

Before you can react, Hackett shoots Salvador in the back, killing him instantly. While you reach down to your gun, the echo of Hackett's shot is reverberating from the rocky cliffs. Almost instantly, the sound changes into the rumbling sound of a rock slide. In the last second you manage to get to safety. As usual, Old Man Hackett has completely disappeared.</spoiler>

To the treasure

  • Quest Text: <spoiler text="Show Text">You hurry towards the ruins you have seen from afar. the labyrinth of canyons and caves makes it hard to keep track and you would be completely lost if the sound of small explosions wouln't help you find the way once in a while. It seems like Hackett and Vargas are already trying to get into the ruins.</spoiler>
  • Epilogue: <spoiler text="Show Epilogue">A stronger explosion shakes the canyon. A short while after you turn around a corner, you find the burned-out ammuntion wagon, surrounded by dead soldiers. You can hear the echo of gunshots from the ruins. After you approach the treasure vault through blown-away walls, you see Hackett and Vargas oppose each other, guns drawn. In the middle, between them, stands an old clay jug, filled with gold coins.</spoiler>
