I have to disappoint you though. Jack died. You were right there during the ambush of the Chocreek, so I don't have to tell you about that. They took him to the best military hospital, near Richmond. I rode there right away. He got hit by three bullets. He was badly wounded, but a fighter like him can pull through this. Four days later I got a letter that his unit made a real massacre. He never spoke a word again after that day. He shivered, didn't sleep anymore and started having delusions. Five weeks later the lord was kind enough to put him out of his misery. His widow and children have still not gotten over this. I can give you their address if you want to talk to them. God bless you.
