The flag features 13 stars to represent the original 13 colonies with the stars arranged in a circle. She learned how to sew from her great-aunt, then later she worked as an upholsterer. There she fell in love with a fellow apprentice, John Ross, but since she was a Quaker and he an Anglican, their relationship was not approved. So they ran off across the Delaware River, where they got married by Benjamin Franklin's son when she was 21. Ah, so romantic, isn't it? Ok, never mind, I have some posters waiting for you. So, two years after they got married, the American Revolutionary War broke out. John Ross was guarding munitions and was killed when there was a gunpowder explosion. She was 24 at the time and continued to work in the upholstery business, repairing uniforms and making tents and blankets. She also stuffed paper tube cartridges with musket balls for prepared packaged ammunition for the Continental Army. After some time she married her second husband, a mariner named Joseph Ashburn. Three years later, in 1780, his ship was brought up by the Royal Navy and he was charged with treason and imprisoned in England, where he died. Her first daughter also died. Can you imagine how hard it must have been? I would have tried to free the prisoners! But all this happened a long time ago... Well, anyway, I guess you are hungry now, I will prepare a nice dinner for you. Can you mow the grass behind the saloon and fix the fence while I do that?

The flag? Hang on. In 1783 she married her third husband, John Claypoole, who had told her what had happened to her husband. They had five daughters together and lived a peaceful, post-war life.
