I have an idea, female soccer is not as popular and known as it should be. It's not a new sport, first recorded games come from the XIX century. However the female game was mentioned already in the XVI century. At the beginning the game was really violent and not adapted to female game style and stamina. It took years before people realized that some changes and rules can make female soccer nice and enjoyable.

Of course female soccer also required special clothing. At the beginning women used to play in ... skirts. Can you imagine playing soccer in a log skirt? That had to be really hard, but over time the costumes were evaluated to more modern clothing which gives more flexibility in movement and prevents accidents. It was very easy to tangle in a long dress and fall over. You should try it. Wear a skirt and high heels and run some miles.

Going back to the game's history, at the very end of the XIX century female soccer got popular. The first international match took place in 1881 in Edinburgh where the English team played against Scotland. Around that time teams played several matches, but two were special. Referee had to stop the game after people invaded the pitch. It's unbelievable, but that really happened!

Luckily other games went better than stopped ones and the most awaited moment happened. Lily St Clair scored the first goal which was seen by 2000 fans watching the game, by which she gave her Scottish team an opportunity to win the game 2-0. It was the first publicly recorded female soccer goal in history! The game is getting more and more popular over the years and I still hope, soon we will all talk only about female soccer.

Do you think that is the most important item in the soccer game? Of course a ball! Balls changed a lot over the years. People started playing soccer, or something which is "soccer's grandfather", by using animal bladders or skulls. That wasn't the most continent way and over the years the first rubber ball was created. After that, balls still changed and evolved to get lighter and easier to play. I see the collection which you brought me, it's impressive. We can use them to play our own game. A lot of bored people should be in prison.
