Do you think that USA is an only country which celebrates something like Independence Day? I'm almost sure that we are not the only one, but who could know more? I would ask Henry, he meets all customers in our Saloon and listens to their stories.

Of course other countries also celebrate their Independence Day, but not all call it the same. In some places it's called a National Day or Constitution Day. At the end all of those celebrations are about the country. I can tell you about one of them, but first things first. I have to finish preparing today's dinner and then I can spend time with you. If you help me, preparations won't take too long.

Let's look at the map, this small country is called Denmark. They don't celebrate Independence Day, but every year on June 5th they celebrate Constitution Day which in Danish is called "Grundlovsdag". The country has a unique situation, because their first constitution was signed in 1849 and the current one in 1953, both on June 5rh. That's very interesting, they had no better day to choose for celebrations. Also it's a late spring in Denmark on that time, who doesn't like celebrations during warm days?

Danish people started their celebrations in 1891 when they got half-day off introduced to celebrate with their families and friends. The situation has changed in after 84 years, in 1975 when most of Danish workers received a full day off. Why I never have a day off during celebrations? Maybe because I run a Saloon? Still I would love to have some time, as others have. What do I need to take some rest?

Danish people celebrate their Independence Day by going to the church to participate in the special devotion. Other organizations also organize special meetings to celebrate that important day. People spend time together, rise a flag and sing songs.

In a capital city people can often visit King's Garden to participate in special speeches or other events.

I'm not sure if Danish citizens cook special food for their Constitution Day. You must remember that some of them normally work on that day. I know some recipes from Denmark, never tired them but why not? Let me cook something.
